A Positive Signal for Indonesia's Global Steel Competitiveness

According to Indonesian media reports on January 18, 2026, Indonesia's Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, confirmed that Turkey officially terminated its anti-dumping investigation into Indonesian cold-rolled stainless steel products on December 27, 2025. No trade defense or safeguard measures were imposed on Indonesian exports.

Minister Budi noted that this outcome reflects the steadily improving competitiveness and compliance strength of Indonesia's steel industry in the international market. More importantly, it opens new opportunities for Indonesia to expand stainless steel exports not only to Turkey, but also to neighboring regional markets.

He emphasized that the Indonesian government actively followed the case throughout the 18-month investigation period, working closely with Turkish authorities to ensure the process was conducted objectively, transparently, and in full accordance with international trade rules.

The Turkish Anti-Dumping and Subsidy Authority, in its Final Determination Report, concluded that cold-rolled stainless steel imports from Indonesia showed only minimal dumping margins and did not cause material injury to the domestic Turkish industry. Based on these findings, the investigation was formally closed.

For context, Turkey initially launched the anti-dumping investigation on June 28, 2024, targeting cold-rolled stainless steel products originating from Indonesia and China.

From an industry perspective, this decision sends a clear message: cost competitiveness alone is no longer the only factor under scrutiny. Transparent pricing structures, compliance with global trade standards, and the ability to withstand long-term investigations are becoming just as critical.

For Indonesian producers and exporters, the ruling strengthens market confidence and reinforces Indonesia's position as a credible, rules-based supplier in the global stainless steel supply chain.
