In the early hours of April 13th, the United States and the United Kingdom announced the imposition of new trade restrictions against Russia: starting from April 13th, the London Metal Exchange (LME) and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) are prohibited from using aluminum, copper, and nickel produced in Russia after April 13th.
Today, shortly after the market opened, the price of nickel on the London exchange surged by $1,660 per ton, reaching a high of $19,360 per ton, marking the highest point since September of last year!
